From March 30 to April 7, 2009, CISSM hosted a group of faculty and students from Moscow’s Institute of U.S. and Canada Studies (ISKRAN). This visit was the 6th annual visit conducted as part of our joint Collaborative Education and Cooperative Security Project funded by the Carnegie Corporation of New York to train the next generation of U.S. and Russian security experts.Click here to find out.

Steve Fetter, dean of the School of Public Policy for the past four years and Senior Fellow at CISSM, has been appointed assistant director at-large at the Office of Science and Technology Policy in the Executive Office of the President. He will be responsible for the areas of energy, climate change, and nuclear weapons. Click here to find out.

Robert Lamb has been awarded a 2009 fellowship from the Smith Richardson Foundation to finish fieldwork in Medellín, Colombia, on the relationship between legitimacy and violence.
