William N. Nolte
Director of the Program in Intelligence Research and Education
William M. Nolte is Research Professor and Director of the Program for Intelligence Research and Education at the School of Public Policy, University of Maryland. He completed a thirty-year career with the federal government in early 2006, as the first chancellor of the National Intelligence University system. He previously served in a range of positions with the National Security Agency, the National Intelligence Council, and the Intelligence Community Management Staff. He is the former director of the Intelligence Fellows program, and continues to serve on the board of Studies in Intelligence, the intelligence community's professional journal. He is a member of the Council on Foreign Relations, and holds an A.B. from La Salle University and a Ph.D. from the University of Maryland, both in history.
