Clay Ramsay, senior research associate in the Center for International and Security Studies at Maryland (CISSM), has been recognized as a 2026–27 Philip Merrill Presidential Scholar faculty mentor. Ramsay was named by Vardaan Srivastava, one of the university's 2026–27 Philip Merrill Presidential Scholars and a senior in the College of Behavioral and Social Sciences, as the faculty mentor who has had the greatest impact on his academic achievement.
The Philip Merrill Presidential Scholars Program honors some of the university’s most accomplished seniors and the faculty members who have played an important role in their academic journeys. Each scholar selects a University of Maryland faculty mentor to be recognized alongside them. Ramsay and Srivastava will be honored at a celebration hosted by the Merrill family and the Office of the President at the University House in November.
The Philip Merrill Presidential Scholars Program is made possible through the generosity of the Merrill family and recognizes both academic excellence and the lasting impact of faculty mentorship.
